Storage Power Roadmap
Our team is working on developing models, metrics, and benchmarks to measure power efficiency. The first stages in this research involve understanding which design architectures support:
- Power vs. performance trade-offs
- Power vs. resiliency trade-offs
We are also investigating a way to expose power consumption details to the application layer so the information can be used for more efficient power management.
Measuring performance and power also involves exporting this information to out-of-band analysis tools (e.g., data warehouse, data mining tools) and software optimizers (online/offline).
