As of January 2008, CbCS is an approved standard to the T10 technical committee of INCITS.

During 2006, we built a prototype system deploying the protocol for securing virtual machine access to external storage devices. The prototype is based on Xen systems and IBM's SAN Volume Controller (SVC) as the storage system.
During 2007, we extended the basic prototype for integrated management functionality of storage, virtual servers and security to provide an end-to-end prototype solution for virtual machines to access networked storage.
